Objective:
Students will learn to write a variety of poetry throughout the month through small group dynamics
and individual related assignments.
- Week 1: The ABCs of Poetry (readwritethink); Individual due 2/5; Month Metaphors due 2/8/10.
- Week 2: Poetry through Riddles (readwritethink); Love Letter poem due 2/12.
- Week 3: Winter Break (Assign The Hiding Place)
- Week 4: Examining Metaphor in Music (readwritethink [revised])
Due Thursday, 2/25: Select a song to present to the class with a copy of the lyrics and the selection to play (CD or Ipod). In addition, write a paragraph answering the following questions:
1. What is the name of your song, and who wrote it, and/or performed it?
2. Why did you choose this particular song?
3. What were the writer’s motivations or what do you think the motivation was?
4. What theme (s) is portrayed in this song?
5. What literary techniques were used, and therefore what impact do they give to the son?
6. How does the musical composition aid to its overal theme/mood/tone etc. . .
